Am I Living a Worthy Life?

A week ago I heard Bob Lesnefsky give a talk about living a worthy life. He has been faced with the question of living his life for Christ, but he also asked us to look at ourselves and decide if we are living a worthy life. Looking at my life right now, can I say that I am living a Christian life? Is my life worthy of being called Christian? For me this is not an easy question to answer. Heck, I would love to say "yes," but truly looking at the nitty gritty parts of my life, can I say that I am being a true disciple of Christ?
Honestly, I cannot say that I am living a life worthy of being called a Christian. This has not been an easy thing to come to grips with. This doesn't mean that I am not a Christian and no longer feel that I should be a practicing Catholic. I could never feel that way! This is me realizing that I am lacking a fervent love for Jesus Christ. I now know that I cannot keep living the way I am living. I must surrender and dedicate my whole life to the Son of God. I want to be clear that my reasons for answering "no" to the question posed are not just based on the sins that I struggle with on a regular basis. If I take away the sins that I struggle with, my life is still lacking one thing in particular - a fervent love of Christ.

I am not writing this post just to express my own thoughts about my life, but I am here to pose the question to you as well. Are you living a life worthy of being called Christian? Are you a true disciple of the Lord's? Please take some time and pray about this. We always want to make ourselves feel good, but more importantly we need to be honest with ourselves. On the Day of Judgement, Christ is not going to worry about saying things that will make you feel good, but he is going to be honest with you. Being honest with yourself now can only help you live a better life in the future and hopefully eternal life with God.

Are we loving enough? Is Christ the center of our lives or do we fill it with the distractions of this world?  It is so easy to get caught up in our lives and making sure we check off everything on our "To Do Lists," but life is not supposed to be stripped down just to that. God has designed us out of pure love. He didn't have to create us, but as a complete gift he did. If God creates out of love, then isn't the path to happiness found in our love for others and ultimately our love for Christ?

I can tell you it has become very easy for me to say that I love God, but what I have done is stripped the action away from the word. My actions do not support my declaration of loving God. Can you relate to this? If we are going to say that we love God, then there must be action behind it. There must be prayer! It is in prayer that our hearts can speak to God and he is able to speak to our hearts. If we are to be true Christians (followers of Christ) then we must stop expecting our words to be good enough and step up and let our actions show how much we love Christ.

God has given us this precious gift - life, please do not waste with a life full of sin, but even more do not think that God knows how much you love him by how much you say it, but let your actions speak for themselves. Take time in prayer today and do not just give time for you to talk, but allow the God of the universe to enter into your heart and speak to you. He has a lot he wants to say to you, more than you want to say to him. Just listen. If you want to live a worthy life, a life as a disciple, then start each day with prayer and allow God to lead you through each day.

God Bless.
